Very basic hotel room..comfy bed..very clean and tidy..would stay here again

We cheeked in popped to room (133)a cleaner was just finishing off so we left our bag to head to shops.
On our return several hours later, key wouldn’t work. So off to reception. You were given wrong room - now 131 but sorry we have your bag here found in 134 (opposite 133)
That’s strange my husband said we haven’t been there how’d get there ?
Assistant manager apologised said must of been a cleaner !
Not sure anyone should have touched our property who ever it had been 😡
After both going back down to reception the assistant manager was very apologetic but stilll had no explanation. I will say the girl who had checked us in apologised from her mistake with wrong room number. Feel she Should have really contacted us prior to our return to the hotel.
Later that evening our room heating refused to switch off we tried everything for over an hour so phoned to reception and she’d see what she could do. She called back to say she was on her own but she could give us a key for 133 if we popped down for it.
Shocked husband said ok we’ll leave baggage etc here and just sleep next door this now being 10.30 ish !
Next morning I’d gone back to 131 for husbands bday cards etc and a cuppy as a cleaner knocked and started entering the room ! Apologising profusely seeing me as she thought the room was empty ready to be cleaned following info on her work schedule! I voiced my disappointment of our treatment turns out she was floor supervisor Aileen and was very apologetic, shocked & extremely helpful ensuring we were giving a full refund & the parking fee of £6.50 too.
Meantime I’d managed to play with heating and eventually got it switched off. The switch seemed to be playing up. Room was like a Furness.
1.Why an assistant manager had no explanation as to why our bags were in 134 🤷♀️ baffles us.
2. Point of a hotel having your contact number being !!! To contact us of the initial mistake we’d have thought !
3. Why were we moved from 133 in the first place ?? We presumed it had been allocated to someone else but as we turned out sleeping in it any way ! obviously it wasn’t

Didn't stay but had lunch there and it was decent. The hotel was busy so best to book at the weekend.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights whilst visiting family over the festive period. There are so many positives to note about the hotel. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room and other areas were extremely clean and modern. There is a small art gallery upstairs and the decor throughout the hotel is tasteful. The bar staff were wonderful and a vast selection of drinks are available.
The hotel undoubtedly meets the expected standard of a 4-star-rated hotel except for the lack of air conditioning in the room. Neither of us slept well due to this and we couldn’t have the window open overnight due to some noise (people having festive fun maybe, not sure if always like it). We’ve never known a room to be so hot during winter in Scotland. Very unfortunate as the hotel is a wonderful place to stay otherwise.
It was a really enjoyable stay other than the air conditioning situation.

Went for a spa day, the facilities are beautiful.
The food was great!
Had the best hot stone massage
Rooms are lovely and clean, but the beds and pillows were rather uncomfortable and let everything else down.
But I would definitely go back for a meal and use the facilities/ spa

I think his name was Adam, he helped me with my bags and took me to my room, there was also a nice staff lady that supported me when I got panicked trying to find my way down from the elevator! Lovely staff and I appreciate their kindness - i definitely will be back 🫶🏼

I have now been twice for the spa and both times I've had a great experience. All the staff have been lovely and the hot stone massage was just what I needed.
I had one of the deals before where you got food as well as the treatment and acces to the sauna etc. and the food was delicious!

Let's break it down,
Rooms: The rooms are spotless, there may be a tiny bit of wear in some rooms, as there are in the hallways. Lots of creams for bathing etc, expresso machine, or a kettle for tea/ hot chocolate drinkers. There are plenty of towels, shower and bath in my room.
Service: Absolutely everyone was kind, helpful from reception, cleaning staff and hospitality. I didn't try the spa, so can't comment, but the whole place has a real, respectful, helpful vibe to it.
Location: is right by the old section of the Dundee docks, which is now an aquapark. The centre is a ten minute walk away, slightly uphill. There is onsite parking available. The V&A is 5 or 6 minutes walk away, the train station is ten minutes, and the bus station is about 5 or so.
Now the big question, would I recommend? Absolutely. No question. If you love spa days, this is the place, excellent rooms, 25% off food and spa treatments.

Bought the essentially for you package which gave you access to their leisure facilities ، massage treatments (facial scalp and back), and two small plates at the restaurant. What a bargain !!!!love every minute and we got a ESPA gift bag which contained three mini gifts 🎁. Could not say anything negative about the service , it was amazing.

My first time staying at the Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa, and I have been thoroughly impressed! The sleep quality was excellent, with a very comfortable mattress, and there were thoughtful touches in the room, including a lovely welcome message that made me feel at home. The room was spacious, and the bathroom in my standard room had both a bath and a shower—perfect for unwinding after those windy and cold August days. The staff were attentive and always ready to help.
I only had breakfast on one day, as it was made-to-order rather than a buffet. While this is a fantastic feature for those on holiday, it can be a bit less practical if you’re staying for business and need something quick to fuel up and get going.
The hotel is conveniently located near the main bridge connecting Dundee to St. Andrews, making it ideal for my work on the golf course while still being able to retreat back to Dundee for some much-needed rest. Overall, a great stay, and I’d definitely recommend it!

Staying for on business and stay in many hotels for this. The Apex is lovely. The staff and spot on, cant help you enough and very accommodating with all my needs. The food is brilliant, fish and chips might be the best I've had. Forgot my hair gel and thought on the off chance ill call reception and see if they had any. They brought me a new 50ml VO5 hair gel up. Amazing service. Thanks to Adam and Ewan but all the staff here have been spot on. Bar and resturant staff and also great. Really nothing to fault.

Another great stay at this hotel. We love coming here for a little break. The rooms are big and the bar/restaurant were a nice space to relax. We always use the spa facilities when staying, they are excellent and the treatments are just as good. We will be back soon.

We stayed at the Apex City Quay Hotel on Christmas Eve and was very surprised how spacious the room was! Although our stay was short, staff went above and beyond to make the Christmas time magical for our child. We found a stocking outside our door with some chocolates and letter that informed us there's is a gift from Santa at the reception. Thank you Apex City Quay Hotel!

Staff are attentive and friendly so nice and welcoming. Had a spa treatment and it was so relaxing, also used the pool and sauna and everyone I we spoke to were really nice.

I had a festive dinner for 6 and it was a wonderful way to end the year!
The service is amazing and the restaurant portion is just gorgeous, very luxury and highly sophisticated. Definitely an occasion for some semi formal wear.
The meal was very reasonably priced and all the dishes were excellent and highly reccomended by everyone attending!
If you have the chance to go, especially when their festive dinner bookings are up be sure to snatch up a seat! Great for family gatherings, friend dinners, new year's or holiday celebrations, birthdays, promotion party etc.
They have incredible vegetarian and vegan options too. Also their cocktails are to die for. Love the baileys festive cocktail mix. ❄️
